Change of Plans


Heh.

Guess I'm one of those fancy game devs now.

So I haven't the foggiest idea what I'm going to put here. I'll be honest.

Ren'Py has a very...very steep learning curve that, unless you've got prerequisite knowledge surrounding code or access to a community that can help with coding or patience or some pretty in-depth knowledge of how to google what you need or

Look...this engine...engine?

This engine is great. I can see why many people point to it as the VN engine.

Like even back when I was in college eons ago, I remember my good friend suggesting I user Ren'Py. 

I get itttt.

But it's anything but user friendly. 

Especially if you're like me and are neurodivergent and thus easily overwhelmed and tripped up by information, and the information overload sends you into an anxious tailspin that you struggle to get out of

As many times as someone tells me "hey man just check out the documentation it's great"...it's not great. 

Because it makes my brain implode. OR--HOLD ON. It's too great. It's a very technical document that explains the program. And that's the problem--it's technical...and you gotta know where to look for examples.  And even then--you gotta HOPE you're still clutching on to like...the one spoon you have left after trying so hard to wrap your head around anything. 

ANYWAY.

I'm going to link to some fabulous resources that I found.  Even with all the documentation and resources, I still struggle to parse a lot of what's being said. So. I don't know! I guess I'll be making posts about what I learn and try to keep track of how I solved said issues. Maaaybe it'll help someone. Maybe it won't.
